Are you a strategic thinker with a passion for global logistics and sourcing? We are looking for a skilled Logistics Global Category Manager to take ownership of developing and executing global sourcing strategies for Air, Ocean, and Rail logistics services. This role ensures cost-effective, high-quality, and sustainable logistics solutions that support the company’s global supply chain operations.
Areas of Responsibility
In this role, you will develop and execute global category strategies in collaboration with logistics, material management, and business area stakeholders, aligned with business goals and growth targets, with a strong focus on Cost Competitive Countries Sourcing (CCC). You will translate strategic plans into actionable roadmaps and lead their execution. Your responsibilities include conducting supplier and industry benchmarking, monitoring logistics market trends (e.g., fuel prices, capacity constraints, regulatory changes), and sharing cost forecasts, risks, and insights with stakeholders at business area and global sourcing levels.
You will identify, evaluate, and manage global logistics service providers, lead supplier negotiations, contract development, and performance management, and perform Supplier Relationship Management (SRM). You will foster strategic partnerships and drive continuous improvement and cost-saving initiatives through strategic sourcing and process optimization. Maintaining high-quality master data in all relevant systems is essential to enable accurate reporting and category KPI development. You will monitor and report on category spend, savings, and compliance, while working closely with supply chain, operations, finance, and regional procurement teams.
As category team lead in a matrix organization, you will coordinate team members from various business units and areas. You will also support logistics planning and execution and ensure compliance with international trade regulations, customs requirements, and internal policies. Proactively mitigating risks related to logistics disruptions, geopolitical changes, and sustainability is a key aspect of this role.
You will drive innovation in logistics solutions, including digital tools and automation, while promoting sustainable practices that support Valmet’s ESG goals. As global approver of new suppliers within your category in Compass, you will also develop, implement, and follow up on the global category strategy, aligned with Valmet’s overall logistics strategy and business needs.
