As a Game Designer at King, you have a solid grasp of game design principles and the game level development lifecycle.
You will contribute meaningfully to the creation and iteration of features, systems, and content with a growing sense of ownership.
Your work is shaped by both product strategy and player experience goals, and you’ll be expected to independently deliver well-scoped features, contribute to ideation, and collaborate across disciplines to improve our games.
Key Responsibilities
Production Knowledge
Consolidate your understanding of how King builds, launches, and operates levels and features.
Work closely with producers and other team members to deliver within sprint structures.
Understand dependencies and participate in planning and scoping discussions.
Ideation
- Actively participate in ideation and contribute viable, player-centered concepts.
- Help define goals and success metrics for new features and content.
- Use player needs and business context to inform ideation and iteration.
Gameplay Design
- Efficiently create game content that aligns with the product vision and craft principles.
- Own the end-to-end design of small-to-mid-scope features or content pieces.
- Collaborate with UX, art, analytics, and engineering to deliver player-impactful experiences.
Systems Design
- Apply established system design models (progression, economy, rewards) to your features.
- Work within balancing frameworks and support live tuning needs.
- Partner with senior designers to refine system health and player motivation loops.

- You consistently deliver quality design work with minimal supervision.
- You shape and iterate on features that positively impact KPIs or player satisfaction.
- You contribute to a collaborative and high-performing team culture.
- You begin to develop thought leadership in a specific design area (e.g., core loop, content pacing, meta).
- You contribute to improvement of tools and processes that increase personal and team performance.
- You use best practices for craft and data to set the standard for what good looks like.
