Are you ready? Volvo Group Design is embarking on a digital first, integrated and collaborative journey where physical twin assets will support only when relevant. The objectives are to primarily visualize, create and collaborate through augmented and immersive virtual realities.   This will enable new levels of creativity, quality and productivity as well as new ways for instant collaboration, verification and communication. This will make everything come together in one cohesive experience and user journey complemented with physical assets only when necessary for ergonomic, tactile, haptic reasons.  To spearhead this and secure that Designs needs are met in all phases in synch with other disciplines there is a need for a Senior Expert in Virtual Design Prototyping. You will be a high rank expert at the Brown belt level in Global Trucks Technology (GTT) Engineering Career Path (ECP) as a critical future core competence within Volvo Group Design.    You will be a core competence in the long-term journey towards a Digital Spine of Volvo Group Design based on state of the art digital tools, integrated toolchains cross disciplines, a digital first processes, artificial intelligence, automation, external partnership networks etc.    What you will do Do you dream big? In this role, you will:  * Define Vision and Strategy to make Augmented and Virtual prototyping the preferred solution by integrating all design aspects into one collaborative arena.    * Identify superior methods for innovative and game-changing shift and guidance on Augmented and Virtual platforms.    * Ensure quality and security in software platforms and data handling.    * Drive continuous improvement by staying updated on next-gen developments and engage with stakeholders for Design process improvements.    * Lead by showcasing the business impact of digital design and lead the transition to next-gen processes and define positive business cases for Design and the larger Volvo Group through productivity, quality and creativity improvements.    * Represent Design in internal and external forums related to virtual prototyping.       This is you We are looking for you who holds a Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Industrial Design, Mechanical Engineering, or Digital Visual Communication. Additionally, specialized education in virtual prototyping and digital visualization is highly valued. Ideally, you have academic research or project experience in virtual prototyping, with a particular focus on method development and its impact on business. To really enjoy and succeed in this role, it’s good that you also bring along; •    Over 10 years of industrial experience in virtual prototyping, particularly in the transportation product industry.  •    Experience in various design disciplines: Advanced, Physical, Interactive, CMF, and Services design.  •    Preferably experience in a global design department, ideally in transportation/automotive.  •    Connections in the Augmented and Virtual prototyping industry with a keen sense of future trends.  •    Experience from advising higher management and influencing peers.  •    Extensive participation in industry committees and fairs.  •    Proven success in securing funding grants for advanced studies.  •    Thorough experience from VR/AR developments, real-time 3D/spatial experiences, Varjo/Quest/Apple Vision Pro headsets, OS, system libraries, frameworks, 3D math, Obj-C/C++/C, Swift, GPU architecture, and optimizing process bottlenecks.  This is how you could make an impact You demonstrate commitment through actions, creating concepts and prototypes that support visions and strategies.
