The Strategic and Academic Governance Team is responsible for the School’s rankings, accreditations and liaising with UKÄ, reporting, as well as analyzing and advising the Management Team and Program Teams on ranking and accreditation results. The Strategic and Academic Governance Team also annually surveys alumni over the first five years after graduation. The data from this project is used to create SSE’s Placement Reports and help improve internal processes.

About the Role
We’re seeking a new Academic Controller to join our Strategic and Academic Governance team and help drive evidence-based decision-making at the Stockholm School of Economics.
As Academic Controller, you will play a central role in analyzing, interpreting, and communicating strategic insights about student performance, teaching resources, and organizational priorities. You will provide analytical support on operational and academic matters, including grading compliance, course budgeting, and quality assurance. This role offers a unique opportunity to collaborate closely with faculty, senior leadership, and external partners to maintain and strengthen the academic excellence of SSE’s degree programs.
Example of key responsibilities
- Analyze student data (e.g., grades, progression, completion rates) to identify trends across programs and admission groups
- Produce regular and ad hoc reports to support leadership with actionable insights
- Support institutional reporting requirements (e.g., annual reports and accreditation processes)
- Analyze the allocation of teaching resources to courses and programs
- Prepare and review course and program budgets
- Monitor policy compliance and consistency (e.g., grading, examinations)
- Collaborate with academic and administrative colleagues to develop data-informed strategies for administration and teaching
- Communicate complex data in accessible ways
Qualifications
You are a driven and highly analytical individual with a solid understanding of university-level teaching processes and administrative operations across the Bachelor, Master, and PhD levels. You have excellent communication skills and are confident working with compliance-related matters in an academic environment.
Requirements
- Academic degree in economics, statistics, or a related field – or equivalent professional experience
- Documented experience in administrative work
- Previous experience working with data analytics and survey software tools
- Proven experience in advanced analytical work and data interpretation
- Project management experience with a demonstrated ability to see tasks through completion
- Proficiency in English
Meritorious
- PhD degree in social or human sciences
- Experience in applying AI technologies to improve or develop internal work processes.
- Experience in process development and improvement
- Prior experience in the higher education sector
- Basic knowledge in Swedish
Collaborative Environment
You will report to the Director of Strategic and Academic Governance and work closely with the rest of the team, the Vice President of Degree Programs, Head of Departments, Program Directors and other Faculty members as well as other department within Professional Services.
