About the position
The Technical Projects Group is responsible for management of engineering of the neutron beam instruments, design and manufacturing of the neutron bunker and radiation shielding, design support for common projects (such as choppers, detectors, beam monitors and shutter systems), delivery of electrical infrastructure and integration of instrument electrical systems. The group is also expected to provide design support for sample environment equipment (which is part of Science Directorate project scope).
As a Design Engineer summer worker, your main tasks will be to work on design, drafting and administration work delegated by the Mechanical Engineering, Technology & Analysis Group leader.
About you
A suitable background for this position would be:
• On going university education in Engineering
• Experience of coding, particularly Python
• Work experience in Neutron Scattering Systems would be a significant advantage
• Good written and oral communication skills in English
• Minimum age 18 years.

Duration and location
This is a summer work position of 8 weeks.
Planned start date is 1 July, 2025 or per agreement.
