VÄXA Odling i Sverige AB operates one of Europe’s largest indoor vertical farms, located approximately 40 meters underground in Kumla. The company specializes in year-round production of herbs and leafy greens using advanced controlled-environment cultivation systems.

Due to continued expansion, we are now seeking a qualified Senior Horticulturist to strengthen our cultivation team.

About that role

As Senior Horticulturist, you will have responsibility for crop management under artificial growing conditions. The role is focused on scientific crop management, plant physiology, production optimization, and team leading.

You will work closely with cultivation specialists/growers and report to the Cultivation Manager.

Main Responsibilities

• Monitoring crop development and plant health
• Defining and adjusting crop growth parameters
• Optimizing macro- and micronutrient formulations
• Analyzing yield and production data
• Designing and optimizing light intensity, photoperiod, irrigation frequency, temperature and humidity parameters
• Diagnosing and correcting nutrient deficiencies
• Developing and updating cultivation SOPs
• Determining the production specifications and parameters to achieve them
• Optimizing and maintaining high yield and quality standards
• Collaborating with sales and operations teams for production planning alignment
• Technically guiding cultivation specialists/growers in crop production
• Communication with partners, stakeholders and suppliers

Qualifications/Experiences/Requirements

• Master’s degree or higher in Horticulture or related agricultural science
• Documented knowledge in plant physiology and crop production
• Experience in controlled-environment agriculture (CEA), greenhouse, or indoor vertical farming systems
• Strong analytical skills in yield and production data evaluation
• Experience in operating and maintaining hydroponic cultivation systems. Analyze and control fertilizer out/inputs
• Ability to independently evaluate and adjust cultivation parameters
• Team management experience
• Fluent in English and proficient in Swedish
• Driving license (B-license)
• Experienced with Microsoft Business Central (or similar) business management software & MS Office
