We regard gender equality and diversity as a strength and an asset. MAX IV is looking for a temporary scientist to operate our offline Microscopy Labs at MAX IV. It hosts three different microscopy platforms to help the MAX IV users, industry or academia partners to support their measurements with high-quality microscopy / microspectroscopy data, or to run standalone experiments. The platforms are: - Ultra-High Vacuum Scanning Tunneling Microscope and the vacuum suitcase - Infrared Spectromicroscopy Platform (MJOLNIR) - Scanning Electron Microscope (+ elemental analysis) More detailed information can be found here https://www.maxiv.lu.se/beamlines- accelerators/support-labs/microscopy-labs/. This is a temporary position from March until October 2026. Qualifications for a successful candidate are: - Hold at least a PhD degree in natural/life sciences related field (Physics, Chemistry, Biology, Medicine, …) - PhD/postdoc within biochemistry or related disciplines is a merit - A postdoctoral experience is a merit - Be fluent in English - Must have an experience with scanning probe microscopies, in particular, atomic force microscopy - Knowing basics of IR spectroscopy based on a photothermal effect (oPTIR, sSNOM, AFM-IR, PiFM, etc) is a big merit - Knowledge of any AFM-IR and/or having previous experience at least as a user of AFM-IR systems is a big merit - Having at least hands-on experience with Bruker AFM-IR is a big merit - Must be able to work off-hours when supporting user experiment - Knowing the specific of work at MAX IV or being MAX IV user is a merit - Knowledge of basics of ultra-high vacuum, scanning tunneling microscopy and interaction with beamlines is a merit.    What we offer   When you join the MAX IV team, you step into a world of front edge science.
