Your team
The HIPPIE beamline, located at the 3 GeV ring, together with SPECIES beamline on the 1.
5 GeV ring form the AP-XPS group which is responsible for the development of the Ambient Pressure X-ray Photoelectron Spectroscopy Program at MAX IV. The beamlines provide a wide range of sample environments for in situ and operando XPS and XAS across four instruments and numerous sample environments. The group consists of approximately 10 members including scientists, engineers and postdocs who are actively driving multiple research and projects, among which are time-resolved photoemission, electrochemistry, corrosion, catalysis and thin-film deposition.
Would you like to work at one of the brightest lightsources in the world?
The APXPS group is looking for a postdoc who will:
- Develop electrochemical flow cells for operando AP-XPS and -XAS experiments, primarily at the HIPPIE beamline
- Run a scientific research project on the topic of time-resolved electrochemistry.
Your main work tasks will be to:
- Interact with and support user groups at the HIPPIE beamline (including on-call work)
- Collaborate with users wishing to use electrochemical flow cells for their beamtime
- Run an independent research project on the topic of time resolved electrochemistry
- Participate in the development, design and characterisation of electrochemical cells
- Assist with the day-to-day operation of the solid-liquid endstation at HIPPIE
- Support other postdoctoral researchers and PhD students associated with the APXPS group.
- Participate in occasional beamtimes.
To be qualify for this role, you will need to have the following qualifications/experience:
- Have a PhD in chemistry, physics or closely related subject
- Proven experience and a good understanding of electrochemistry
- Demonstrated ability to work independently
- Excellent command of the English language, good communication, and team working skills
- If not already proficient, be willing and able to learn X-ray spectroscopy to a high level.
The following are seen as merits:
- Experience with conducting spectroelectrochemical experiments
- Experience with the development of electrochemical flow cells
- Experience with AP-XPS and/or -XAS, or with time-resolved spectroscopy
- Experience in user support at synchrotrons
- Experience in programming to handle large datasets.
Eligibility
Appointment to the position of postdoc requires that the applicant has a PhD or an international degree deemed equivalent to a PhD, within the subject of the position, completed no more than three years before the application deadline. Under special circumstances the PhD can have been completed before the aforementioned three years.
Further information
This is a full-time, fixed-term employment. A postdoctoral fellow is employed under a period of at least two years and at most three years. The period of employment is determined in accordance with the agreement “Avtal om tidsbegränsad anställning som postdoktor-2022-02-01” (“Agreement on fixed-term employment as a post-doctoral fellow, 2022-02-01”).
