Job Mission
As Team Manager Mechanical Design, you combine people leadership with hands‑on mechanical design in our R&D organization. You lead, coach and develop a team of mechanical design engineers while actively contributing in development projects. You ensure robust, safe, cost‑efficient and manufacturable mechanical solutions for our vacuum conveying products and related industrial automation equipment. With a strong interest in the surrounding value chain, you collaborate closely with Operations/Production, Sales and other R&D functions to secure high‑quality deliveries to our customers.
Key Responsibilities
Leadership and team development
• Lead, coach and develop a team of mechanical design engineers.
• Set clear goals and priorities, secure effective ways of working and follow‑up.
• Build a culture of collaboration, knowledge sharing and continuous improvement.
• Support competence development and create conditions for high engagement and performance.
Mechanical design and technical ownership
• Work hands‑on with mechanical design in development projects, from concept to released product.
• Act as a technical sounding board and daily support for the team.
• Ensure quality, cost‑efficiency and manufacturability, applying good engineering practice.
• Contribute to design of frames, sheet metal parts, weldments, piping/tubing, enclosures and fixtures.
Planning and delivery
• Contribute to resource planning, workload balancing and project staffing.
• Secure that design deliverables meet requirements, deadlines and quality standards.
• Drive problem‑solving and remove obstacles in projects and daily work.
• Collaborate closely with cross‑functional stakeholders (R&D, Operations/Production, Product Management, Sales and Service).
Tools and methods
• Promote efficient use of PDM/PLM systems (e.g. Teamcenter) and CAD tools (SolidWorks/Solid Edge).
• Help develop and standardize ways of working, design guidelines and documentation.
• Support continuous improvement of processes, methods and tools within mechanical design.
Skills & Competencies
We are looking for someone who combines strong mechanical design experience with natural leadership and a clear can‑do mindset.
You have:
• At least 5 years’ experience in mechanical design, preferably within machinery, automation or industrial products.
• Experience of leading teams, either as a formal manager or as a technical leader/project lead.
• Strong ability to work independently, drive initiatives and make decisions.
• A strong interest in understanding and supporting Operations/Production, Sales and other R&D‑related functions.
• A genuine interest in combining people leadership with being an active, hands‑on designer.
• Excellent problem‑solving skills and a solution‑oriented, positive attitude.
Technical skills (strong advantages)
• Experience with PDM/PLM systems, preferably Teamcenter.
• Experience from SolidWorks and/or Solid Edge.
• Knowledge of or interest in Tacton configurator (clear plus).
• Background in industrial/machinery/automation design (e.g. frames, sheet metal, weldments, piping/tubing, enclosures, fixtures).
• Familiarity with designing for cost‑efficient manufacturing and assembly (DFM/DFA).
Experience & Education
• BSc or MSc in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent technical education.
• Several years of relevant experience as a mechanical designer/engineer in industrial products, machinery, automation or related fields.
• Professional experience with 3D CAD and PDM/PLM tools in a product development environment.
• Fluency in English, spoken and written; Swedish is an advantage.
