We are looking for a senior researcher with a strong interest in Machine Learning Research particularly in the context of trustworthy human interactions with AI and new technologies such as drones.
About us At Human centered AI we conduct applied research with the aim of addressing challenges in society and the transport sector. The unit works in a truly interdisciplinary way, where behavioral science and ethics meet cutting‑edge expertise in AI and technology. Our applied research employs various methodologies and is carried out in close collaboration with stakeholders in the public sector, academia and industry.
The unit addresses three key areas of expertise: • Human–AI Interaction (HMI) • Data Analytics and Explainable AI (XAI) • Safety and cybersecurity in AI‑based Systems
The role In this position you will strengthen both the internal RISE network of AI experts and contribute to establishing RISE as a renowned Machine Learning, Deep learning and AI innovation partner for the industry and public agencies.
With this position, we aim to strengthen our capacity to explore how humans and technology (AI-based) can collaborate even better in future transport scenarios and in society. You will lead out projects with other team members and cooperate closely with industrial and academic partners. You will take a lead in applying for national and international project funding.
Location is Gothenburg and we follow a hybrid work model that allows you to split your working time between the office and your home workspace.

Requirements:
Ph.D. in a relevant field of research.
At least 5 years work experience in one or several of these areas: AI/Machine learning/Deep learning, automation, robotics, cybersecurity, DevOps, computer science and software engineering.
Experience working on applied research projects with private and/or public entities.
Proven track record in applying for national and international research projects funding.
Academic level English corresponding to CEFR Level C1.
The following non-exhaustive list shows areas of expertise and abilities which are of particular interest for the position:
Senior experience in working with drones, IDS, NIDS, resilient transport, human behaviour modeling and behaviour prediction as well as humanoids.
Programming skills in relevant programming languages, ML algorithms and frameworks (Python, PyTorch).
Experience with AI-enabled software development and validation.
Experience developing and building software in a collaborative setting (Git, CI/CD etc.).
Knowledge of written and spoken Swedish.
