We are seeking a skilled Plant Unit Project Manager. The responsibility will cover the scope of the raw material Sponge Iron (DRI/HBI) from delivery at site on train or vessel to the handover in material pockets at the Melt shop. In this role you also will engage with external stakeholders to ensure that the technical solution fulfills all requirements. This role is crucial to deliver the technical scope, schedule and cost objectives of the entire project. You also work closely with technical discipline project managers, external stakeholders, construction managers and H&S team to ensure the project is completed safely, on-time and within budget. In the project execution organization, you report to the Construction Area Project Manager responsible for the Infrastructure.

As a project manager at SSAB, you will have access to mentorship and internal networks, to support your professional development. You will have extensive interaction with specialists, other project managers and current operational teams and you will be part of a team with skilled colleagues.

Main responsibilities

• Project Management of Material Handling from train or vessel arrival through to handover in the melt shop raw material pockets, ensuring safe, timely, budget-compliant, and scope-defined delivery.
• Plan, execute and ensure that the Material Handling DRI/HBI is delivered and installed to defined standards and specifications.
• Ensure adequate and efficient equipment and plant operations for future SSAB mills aimed at fossil-free steel production.
• Prepare accurate budget estimates and detailed project plans for all project phases related to the scope.
• Provide cost follow-up and forecasting to the Construction Area Project Manager responsible.
• Maintain required follow-up and project control standards.
• Collaborate with procurement in negotiations with vendors for the scope.
• Align commercial terms and conditions with project objectives and scopes.
• Leverage skills and experience to ensure the success of SSAB investments.
• Collaborate with other SSAB projects, such as the Oxelösund conversion, as required based on expertise and availability.

About You

• Demonstrated ability to manage multidisciplinary projects, coordinating and communicating with internal and external stakeholders.
• Strong project management skills, demonstrated through your experience in planning, execution, risk management, and cost control.
• Educational Background: A B.Sc. or M.Sc. in engineering or equivalent professional experience, with at least 5–7 years of proven previous experience in similar field.
• Expertise in specific mechanical equipment and installations within industrial projects is highly valued (DRI/HBI, raw material silos and conveyor systems)
• In-depth knowledge of project management models.
• Proven project management skills to guide subprojects from initiation to completion.
• Ability to coordinate internal and external engineering work.
• Good English language skills.
