Your Crew

You will work together with a dynamic team, responsible for the development and verification of satellite onboard equipments and sub-systems. Your Mission

Over the past decade, space computing has undergone a dramatic transformation, driven by significant improvements in processing performance and the adoption of commercial-grade processors and memories. This evolution opens the door for the space industry to leverage modern software architectures, operating systems, and services.

Objective

This thesis aims to design a robust software architecture capable of running applications across a network of spacecraft computers, while addressing challenges such as radiation-induced restarts and data corruption. The architecture must ensure high availability and real-time performance, enabling its use in next-generation spacecraft.

Approach

The solution will be based on Linux and incorporate established technologies, protocols, and libraries to meet the requirements. In addition to a detailed architectural description, the thesis will include a proof-of-concept implementation to demonstrate the feasibility of the proposed design.

Your Story

Master Thesis within the field of Software Engineering, with the preferred skills & prerequisites:

• Strong programming skills in C/C++

• Familiarity with Linux-based systems

• Knowledge of distributed systems, network protocols, and real-time systems

• Understanding of fault-tolerant architectures and reliability concepts is a plus

• Interest in space technology
