About us
The Department of Chemistry and Chemical Engineering represent a broad field of fundamental and applied research and education. Our research activities reach from fundamental chemistry, chemistry at the interface of biology and medicine, materials science, renewable energy, to chemical engineering processing, material recycling, nuclear chemistry, as well as theory and modelling.
The division of Energy and Materials has diverse research activity, focusing on different aspects of material and energy related questions. We contribute to a sustainable society by developing improvements for materials and energy systems applicable in many areas.
About the research project
The project you will work on is focused on the innovative processing of Li-ion batteries using environmentally friendly chemicals. Your task will be to optimize existing technology and adapt the process for the needs of the partners working on the innovative recovery of lithium and other valuable metals.
Please observe: Since the department is also a nuclear facility, only citizens of the countries who are signatory of Treaty on the Non-Proliferation of Nuclear Weapons can apply and be considered for the position. Please check the status of your country before applying.
Who we are looking for
The following requirements are mandatory:
• A doctoral degree or an equivalent foreign degree in a relevant field. This eligibility requirement must be met no later than the time the employment decision is made
• Strong written and verbal communication skills in English
• Experience in hydrometallurgy, chemistry and analytical methods.
You are expected to be somewhat accustomed to teaching, and to demonstrate good potential within research and education.
The following experience will strengthen your application:
• A doctoral degree or an equivalent foreign degree in a relevant field, obtained within the last three years prior to the application deadline
• Experience in process development using hydrometallurgical techniques.
What you will do
• Development and optimization of the process.
• Comminucation with partners.
• Dissemination activities and reporting.
• Supervise master’s and/or PhD students to a certain extent
• Possibility to engage in teaching at undergraduate/master’s level
The position is meritorious for future roles in academia, industry, or the public sector.
Contract terms
The position is a temporary full-time employment for two years with the possibility of a one-year extension.
The position requires physical presence throughout the entire employment. A valid residence permit must be presented by the start date, otherwise the offer may be withdrawn.
