DESCRIPTION

Sinch is on a mission to build the unified, global CPaaS voice platform of the future, and we need a brilliant architect to help lead the way. As our Voice Architect, you will be the technical visionary responsible for defining the future of our global CPaaS voice platform. This is a critical leadership role within our Voice team, reporting to the VP of Engineering for Voice & Verification API. You will have a great impact by creating the strategic roadmap to unify our voice services, migrate from legacy systems, and build a world-class platform that powers the next generation of communication.

Your Mission:

• Own the Architectural Vision: Define, document, and champion the end-state architecture for a unified, global CPaaS voice platform, ensuring it is robust, scalable, and highly available.
• Drive the Evolution Plan: Create and manage a strategic, multi-year technical roadmap that balances innovation with business continuity and guides the gradual migration from legacy systems.
• Align and Influence: Win the confidence of highly skilled, geographically distributed engineering teams, mediating technical debates and fostering a collaborative culture focused on a shared architectural North Star.
• Design for the Future: Architect a system designed to support SIP (Session Initiation Protocol), programmable voice, and WebRTC-based voice and video.
• Champion Modern APIs: Ensure the platform’s APIs are elegantly designed for effortless consumption by developers and sophisticated enough to be augmented by AI/LLMs.
• Lead and Collaborate: Act as the subject matter expert on the voice platform's architecture, working closely with product management and key stakeholders to align technical strategy with business objectives.

REQUIREMENTS

• Significant architectural experience from a role such as Architect or Principal Engineer, with a portfolio of designing large-scale, distributed backend systems.
• A profound understanding of telecommunications technologies, with deep expertise in SIP, VoIP (voice over IP solutions), WebRTC, and related voice/video protocols.
• A demonstrated ability to lead and influence senior engineers and technical teams without direct authority, building consensus through logic, vision, and strong interpersonal skills.
• A strategic mindset with experience in planning and executing complex, long-term platform migrations.
• The ability to articulate a complex technical vision with clarity and passion to both technical and non-technical stakeholders across all levels of the organization.
• Hands-on experience with major public cloud providers (e.g., AWS, Azure, GCP).
• Proven success working effectively within large, globally distributed engineering organizations.

Big plus! You’ll stand out if you have:

• A background in leading a major platform consolidation or technology transformation project.
• Direct experience within the CPaaS landscape.
• Familiarity with applying AI/LLMs to enhance developer tools or communication workflows.
• A strong, developer-centric focus on modern API design principles.
• A degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related technical field.
