The opportunity

We are looking for an R&D Project Manager to join our Technology & Solutions Development (Business R&D) organization in HVDC at Hitachi Energy in Sweden. You will have the opportunity to collaborate with a talented team of engineers and lead R&D projects focusing on the development of innovative solutions for HVDC applications.

You will join a global and dynamic team of 20+ R&D Project Managers mainly based in Sweden, Poland, and India.

This position will be based in Ludvika or Västerås.

How You Will Make an Impact

• Set up and execute R&D projects together with your project team in alignment with our R&D portfolio management.
• Develop detailed work plans, schedules, project estimates, and resource plans, perform risk analysis, and monitor the progress of plans against project milestones and budgets.
• Proactively work with the team to identify potential risks and uncertainties associated with the implementation of new solutions. Develop risk management plans and strategies to respond to risks as they arise.
• Drive requirements analysis, pre-studies, solution development, and documentation of results in the projects.
• As an R&D Project Manager, you will be a part of the R&D Project Management Office. As a team, we are all responsible for working on our processes, quality, learning from/helping each other, and developing individually and as a team.

Your Background

• University degree (M.S. or Ph. D.) in a technical field (e.g., Electrical, Electronics, or Computer Engineering) with several years of relevant work experience.
• Proven project management experience in delivering complex, scalable software solutions, preferably using Agile/Scrum frameworks.
• Strong leadership and interpersonal skills with the ability to influence stakeholders across global, multi-site teams.
• Solid understanding of software and digital technologies including IoT, cloud computing, big data, and analytics.
• Experience or knowledge in HVDC, FACTS, or substation automation is a plus.
• Passionate about people and technology, with a collaborative, structured, and open-minded approach to teamwork.
