Context: The Institut Laue-Langevin (ILL), situated in Grenoble, France, is Europe's leading research facility for scientific research using neutrons. Every year, we host over 2000 visits by scientists, who come to the Institute to carry out world-class research. As part of the ILL's Neutron Optics Service (SON), you will join the "Helium 3" group, which specialises in the production of polarised ³He neutron spin filters, which are essential for the scientific experiments conducted at the Institute. Your tasks: - Manage the supply and installation of ³He filters on the neutron experiments. - Maintain laboratory equipment, in particular the machine for producing polarised gas. - Contribute to the development of this equipment in collaboration with the rest of the team. - Participate in performance validation tests for new equipment. - Write test reports. Your profile: - You have a Level 4/5 qualification (NVQ, HNC/HND, foundation degree or equivalent) in physical measurements, instrumentation or equivalent. - You have experience in instrumentation and/or physical measurements. - Knowledge of vacuum, optical and magnetism techniques is desirable. - Mechanical skills would be an advantage. - You have a meticulous and organised approach to your work and a service-oriented attitude for meeting the needs of the teams of scientists. - You enjoy teamwork but are also able to carry out your duties independently. In-house training will be provided allowing you to become proficient in the techniques needed to produce and use ³He filters.
