Assignment Description:
We are looking for a Senior IBM Licensing Specialist to join our dynamic team.
What you will work on:
- Conduct structured audits of IBM software license usage and entitlement
- Provide actionable recommendations to reduce compliance risks and prevent overconsumption
- Establish and maintain effective license baselines (ELP) for IBM products
- Develop and execute IBM remediation plans to address identified gaps or deficiencies
- Support installation, configuration, and optimization of ILMT and IBM BigFix, including packaging and bundling reviews
- Advise on license data collection, reconciliation, and reporting practices
- Identify end-of-life (EOL) software versions and propose appropriate migration strategies
- Deliver ongoing knowledge transfer to SAM teams aligned with best practices
- Collaborate with IBM stakeholders to define roles, responsibilities, and operational processes
- Provide expert input to simplify and enhance the organization’s overall software asset management (SAM) strategy
- Stay current with IBM licensing trends and deliver relevant insights within the assignment scope
- Prepare management reports with findings and strategic recommendations at 3-month and 6-month milestones
What you bring:
- Extensive knowledge of IBM licensing models, usage rights, terminology, and historical contract structures
- Proven experience participating in IBM software audits from initiation to closure
- Strong understanding of license compliance, optimization, and effective license positioning (ELP)
- Hands-on expertise with IBM BigFix and ILMT, including packaging configurations and exception handling
- Ability to identify gaps in current SAM practices and recommend targeted improvements
- Experience analyzing software lifecycles and managing software versions approaching or past EOL
- Strong communication skills with the ability to interface with both technical teams and senior stakeholders
- Demonstrated experience managing license portfolios in complex and large-scale IT environments
- Capability to train and mentor internal teams, fostering knowledge retention and adherence to best practices
