Role: Laboratory Engineer

Assignment Description:

We are looking for a Laboratory Engineer to support laboratory activities within the fields of microbiology and biotechnology at a pilot facility.

In this role, you will perform hands-on laboratory tasks related to microbial cultivation and basic analytical techniques. The position is ideal for someone with a scientific or technical background who enjoys a structured, quality-driven working environment.

Key Responsibilities:

• Prepare seed cultures for fermentation
• 
  
• Prepare cultivation media and handle microbial cultures under sterile conditions
• 
  
• Operate autoclaves and perform microorganism identification using microscopy and Gram staining
• 
  
• Perform basic analytical measurements (e.g., UV/Vis spectrophotometry, dry weight measurements)
• 
  
• Draft risk assessments and standard operating procedures (SOPs)
• 
  
• Ensure compliance with laboratory safety protocols
• 
  
• Monitor laboratory environment and maintain daily logs
• 
  
• Maintain chemical inventory and ensure proper stock of materials and reagents
• 
  
• Support general administrative and routine laboratory tasks

Candidate Profile:

• Background in science or technology, preferably related to microbiology, biotechnology, or life sciences
• 
  
• Proven laboratory experience
• 
  
• High level of accuracy and quality consciousness
• 
  
• Good communication skills in both Swedish and English
• 
  
• Service-minded, positive, and flexible attitude
• 
  
• Ability to deliver reliable results within set timelines
• 
  
• Willingness and availability to work on-site in Karlshamn

Additional Information:

• The assignment may vary in scope depending on project needs; both full-time and hourly on-call setups may be possible

• A drug test will be required prior to onboarding
