Founded in 2022, and with 1000+ employees and counting, Aira is driving the clean energy revolution by providing homes with modern clean energy-tech solutions such as solar power, battery storage solutions, and heat pumps. With a state-of-the-art production facility in Poland, an HQ in Stockholm, Sweden, and hubs across the UK, Germany, and Italy, Aira is well on track to install clean energy-tech into 5 million homes by 2034.

As a Backend Engineer on our Customer Solutions team, you'll build the intelligent systems that power Aira's growth across Europe. This role sits within our Customer Acquisition area, where you'll develop critical backend infrastructure including intelligent recommendation systems, dynamic pricing optimization, and market expansion capabilities. Working in an agile environment with cross-functional teams, you'll help scale our technical platform across diverse European markets while handling complex technical and regulatory requirements.

In this role, you will:

• Build and maintain our customer solution matching platform—the backend systems that analyze customer inputs and property characteristics to recommend optimal clean energy solutions
• Develop scalable backend services that enable market teams with pricing capabilities and support company bets on new products through intelligent algorithms
• Create flexible, event-driven systems that can easily onboard new clean energy products and adapt to different markets, currencies, and regulatory requirements
• Design and implement APIs and microservices that support rapid geographic expansion while maintaining high performance and reliability

We're transforming how clean energy solutions are discovered and delivered across Europe through smart backend systems. • Strong experience with Java and Spring Boot
• Solid understanding of databases and data modeling (SQL and NoSQL)
• Experience with automated testing (unit tests, integration tests)

• Experience building scalable, distributed systems
• Familiarity with cloud platforms and containerization
• Knowledge of modern development practices (CI/CD, code reviews, agile methodologies)

Nice to have:

• Experience with recommendation engines, pricing algorithms, or matching systems
• Database experience (DynamoDB, PostgreSQL)
• Event-driven architectures (Kafka, message queues)
• Cloud DevOps (Docker, Kubernetes, AWS/GCP)
• gRPC and Protobuf
• Infrastructure as Code (Terraform)
• Experience at fast-growing companies expanding into new markets
