Bring your life
At Thule, we’re passionate about designing smart, functional, and sustainable products that support an active lifestyle.
As we continue to elevate the Thule brand experience, we’re now looking for a Manager CMF Design to lead our Color, Material & Finish strategy across product categories globally.
If you’re a strategic design leader with a sharp eye for trends, a deep understanding of material innovation, and the ability to guide a creative team through concept to execution – this is a rare opportunity to shape the visual and tactile identity of Thule products for years to come.
What you’ll do at Thule
In the role as Manager CMF Design, you’ll be responsible for leading the CMF function within our Design Department. You’ll set the direction for how colors, materials, and finishes are applied across product lines – ensuring a coherent, relevant, and forward-looking CMF strategy that aligns with the Thule brand and product vision.
You’ll lead a team of CMF designers and collaborate closely with industrial designers, product managers, engineers, and marketing to create seasonal color palettes and define category-specific adaptations. You’ll also work hands-on to develop and implement design solutions that meet both aesthetic and functional requirements.
You’ll drive trend research and material exploration using tools such as WGSN, continuously updating our internal material and finish library and identifying opportunities for material innovation, sustainability improvements, and cross-category synergies.
As a key member of the Brand Council, you’ll align CMF direction with brand storytelling and launch timing, ensuring consistency between product and communication. You’ll also take an active role in consolidating textile materials, trims, webbings, and exploring new ways of working more efficiently – including digital tools, AI-based visualization, and external partnerships.
This is both a strategic and hands-on role, where your ability to lead, inspire, and execute will have a strong impact on the look, feel, and user experience of Thule products.
What you bring
To be successful in this role, we believe you have a degree in industrial design, textile/material design, or a related field, combined with extensive experience in CMF design for consumer products – ideally in the outdoor, mobility, or lifestyle segments.
You have a strong eye for color and material trends, and a proven ability to translate them into commercially relevant and brand-aligned design directions. You’re skilled at balancing aesthetics, function, and feasibility, and you understand the implications of material choices on manufacturing, performance, and sustainability.
You’ve successfully led creative teams and projects, and you’re confident working cross-functionally in a global organization. You’re curious, structured, and always looking for smarter ways of working. Experience with digital design tools, material libraries, and trend forecasting platforms is a strong plus.
Most of all, you’re passionate about building beautiful, functional products and shaping the way people experience them through thoughtful material and finish design.
Why you should join Thule
At Thule, we believe in strong teamwork both within your own team and also cross functional between teams. We strive to be an open and curious organization, sharing our knowledge and inspiring one another. Within Thule Group you will find people who have a passion for the products we make and the outdoor company we are. We share the same values, and we like to have fun. All of our employees have a joint responsibility to maintain that spirit and contribute to it.
