Arbetsbeskrivning

Department of Aquatic Resources (SLU Aqua) We have an exciting position for a curious post-doctoral researcher with expertise in community dynamics modelling, to contribute to our research on the effects of climate warming on aquatic food webs. About the position The post-doc will develop stage-structured biomass models of fish communities to analyze local management scenarios under climate change. To inform the models, the postdoc will also pursue multivariate time series analyses of monitoring of coastal fish communities in the Baltic Sea. The post-doc will lead and contribute to related scientific publications, and contribute to the development of Ecological Risk Analysis Tables (ERATs) to support the development of coastal management accounting for climate change and species interactions. The post-doc will have an important role in developing research on dynamic responses of interacting species governing ecological effects of management actions and how these are affected by climate change. The post-doc will also get to contribute to testing the application of this knowledge in our Living Lab with coastal planning experts. This position is part of the research project ClimePlan https://www.slu.se/en/research/research-catalogue/projekt/k/klimatsakrad-havsplanering-fodovavsmodellering-och-ekologiska-riskanalyser-for-konsekvensbedomningar/ and is a great opportunity to do and collaborate in frontier research on climate change effects on fish communities of high societal relevance and impact. Welcome to join our research group! We study dynamics of fish communities and aquatic food webs, and their responses to climate change, exploitation and other human pressures (www.slu.se/fishinfoodwebs). Your profile We are looking for a motivated post-doctoral researcher with strong modelling and analytical skills in community dynamics. Scientific merits of relevance: Documented expertise and skills in mathematical modelling of community dynamics is a requirement, and proficiency in statistical time series analyses in community ecology is desirable. Skills in physiologically structured population modelling or stage-structured biomass modelling is an important merit. Expertise in community ecology and experience in ecological risk analysis are merits. Generic merits: We place great emphasis on personal qualities and abilities to communicate and to cooperate in a team as well as to work and develop independently, including demonstrated independent scientific work. Programming skills in R is a requirement, and programming skills in dynamic modelling in other languages is a merit. Fluency in spoken and written English is a requirement. Qualifications: PhD degree in ecology, applied mathematics, applied physics, or similar subject. About us Our department is an inspiring research environment where you can contribute to knowledge for the sustainable use of seas, lakes and watercourses. We combine ecological, genomic, biodiversity, and fisheries research with monitoring, assessment and advice for national and international management. With 200 employees, we are the largest knowledge hub on aquatic systems and fisheries in Sweden, providing access to associated research infrastructure and research opportunities of high societal relevance.
