Are you passionate about food technology and ready to lead innovation in one of the world’s most essential industries? Join the Tetra Recart (TRC) team at our Food Development Centre (FDC) and play a pivotal role in transforming the canned food category through cutting-edge application development and strategic innovation.

As a Food Development Engineer, you will be the driving force behind TRC’s food application development. You will translate producer needs and market trends into validated, scalable solutions that enhance our product portfolio and unlock new value streams. This is a global role where you’ll collaborate across functions, lead innovation initiatives, and transforming canned food market to sustainable carton solution.

The position will be based in Lund, Sweden but you will work in a global arena. You will report to the Food Development Centre Manager.

What you will do

  • Drive Application Development by translating producer and market needs into validated, market-ready food applications and support in continuous portfolio development by closing capability gaps.
  • Initiate and lead strategic food applications and category innovations that deliver customer-centric solutions and enhance producer competitiveness.
  • Lead validation efforts to confirm product functionality, feasibility, and performance across the production chain.
  • Expand Technical Capabilities into pre-processing domains and novel technologies to strengthen our solution offerings.
  • Identify and apply emerging processing technologies to stay ahead of market trends and unlock new opportunities.
  • Cultivate a global ecosystem of experts, technologists, and suppliers to continuously feed our innovation pipeline.
  • Source and apply external expertise and industry intelligence to anticipate and respond to technological disruptions.
  • Provide deep technical insights during food trials to demonstrate how processing innovations can open new market opportunities.

We believe you have

  • Degree in Food Technology or equivalent
  • Proven experience in food product development, preferably in the canning industry
  • Experience from the canning industry and/or project management
  • Demonstrated success in delivering innovative, customer-focused solutions
  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills
  • Experience in stakeholder and partnership management
  • Fluent in English (written and spoken)
  • Passion for food and a deep understanding of food production processes

We are looking for a visionary food technologist with strong communication and collaboration skills who enjoy sharing knowledge and new ideas. You also have excellent interpersonal skills with focus on collaboration.

You have great knowledge in food as well as in production and the ability to combine the two to find the best customer solutions.
