We are looking for two Software Engineers to join Zalando, an international e-commerce company that is shaping the future of retail. This company provides a platform that serves millions of customers worldwide and is now expanding its engineering team to continue delivering innovative solutions. Here, you’ll have the chance to work with technologies such as Java, Kotlin, AWS, PostgreSQL, and Elasticsearch, all while collaborating with passionate teams focused on driving innovation.

In the role of Software Engineer, you’ll develop and operate large-scale systems that ensure timely and accurate order fulfillment. Your primary focus will be to build backend applications that handle high volumes of data and deliver seamless experiences for customers and partners.

Your responsibilities will include:

• Developing and maintaining high-performance, low-latency systems for data streaming and processing.
• Collaborating with cross-functional teams to design, implement, and scale solutions for fulfillment and customer experience.
• Taking ownership of applications, managing them from development through deployment and monitoring.
• Innovating and finding solutions to scale the platform in an increasingly complex ecosystem.
• Actively contributing to the development of new features and improvements.

You’ll contribute to Zalando’s success by ensuring the systems you build directly enhance the customer experience. As a Software Engineer, you’ll be challenged by the complexity of building distributed systems at scale and will have the opportunity to collaborate across teams and countries. We believe you have:

• A relevant degree in Computer Science or a related field.
• 3-6 years of professional experience in software engineering.
• Solid experience with Java or Kotlin and building APIs.
• Familiarity with databases (e.g., PostgreSQL) and event-driven architectures.
• Some experience or interest in AWS, Kubernetes, and Elasticsearch.
• A passion for problem-solving and building scalable solutions.
• Strong communication skills in English (written and spoken).

It’s a bonus if you have:

• Experience with cloud technologies (AWS, Kubernetes) and distributed systems.
• Knowledge of Kafka or similar messaging systems.
• Experience working with large-scale, high-availability systems.

Scope: Full-time position (100%)

Location: Stockholm.
