The role

The Model-Based Control Design Lead Engineer will lead the design, development, and integration of advanced control algorithms for embedded systems across hybrid powertrain, body electronics, chassis, cooling, or transmission domains. The role involves model-based development (MBD) using MATLAB/Simulink, embedded code generation, and alignment with AUTOSAR and ISO 26262 standards. This is a key technical leadership position with responsibility for delivering scalable and modular software solutions in an Ethernet-based zonal domain architecture.

Verification and validation activities are key to successful delivery and a positive customer experience.

Area of Responsibility

1. Control Algorithm Development

• Design and implement control strategies using MATLAB/Simulink and Stateflow.
• Develop modular, reusable, and scalable Simulink models aligned with system requirements.
• Generate production-ready embedded C code compliant with AUTOSAR standards.

2. Integration & Interface Design

• Define SWC interfaces and configure RTE mappings.
• Integrate control models with existing BSW stacks.
• Collaborate with architects for seamless integration across software layers.

3. Model Quality & Optimization

• Conduct model reviews and refactoring to optimize execution time, memory usage, and multicore adaptability.
• Ensure compliance with MAAB, MISRA, and internal modeling standards.
• Perform back-to-back testing for model-code consistency.

4. Collaboration & Leadership

• Lead a team of MBD engineers; oversee sprint planning and design reviews.
• Coordinate cross-functional teams to ensure timely and quality software delivery.
• Act as the primary technical point of contact for MBD activities.

5. Documentation & Compliance

• Maintain traceability between requirements, models, and test cases.
• Create and manage interface specifications, model architecture documents, and test artifacts.
• Ensure software development aligns with ISO 26262 and ASPICE compliance frameworks.

Knowledge / Experience

• 10–12 years of experience in automotive embedded software development, including 3+ years of OEM-level feature delivery.
• Strong academic background in Mechanical, Electrical, Electronics, Automotive, or Control Engineering.
• Expertise in model-based control design, auto-coded production software, and system-level verification.
• Deep understanding of control theory and automotive control domains (e.g., locking, alarms, hybrid management, chassis, etc.).
• Proven ability in MIL, SIL, HIL, and in-vehicle software validation.
• Proficient in AUTOSAR software component design, ARXML configuration, and BSW integration.
• Experience with fixed and floating-point modeling, test result analysis, and issue debugging.
• Strong grasp of model compliance, verification strategies, and software quality management.

Desirable

• Experience with DevOps/SCM tools like Git and Jenkins.
• Familiarity with CI/CD workflows in model-based environments.
• Exposure to Vector DaVinci, EB tresos, JIRA, Polarion, or similar tools.
