We’re looking for a Lead Engineer to join our Cutting Equipment team at Husqvarna.
In this role, you'll lead the development of cutting equipment and related accessories for a wide range of products – from chainsaws to robotic lawn mowers. Our team works at the critical intersection between the user and the material being cut – a space that directly shapes the user experience and defines the performance of Husqvarna’s products.
This is a high-impact position with significant responsibility and opportunity. The work you and your team do could be the very thing that sets our products apart from the competition.
You’ll be joining a diverse and highly skilled team of eight engineers, each bringing unique expertise and perspectives to the table. Together, we push the boundaries of innovation, precision, and user-centric design.
About the role:
As Lead Engineer, you'll work across a wide range of cutting equipment technologies — from early-stage concept development and method development to product design, root cause analysis, and improvements of existing products.
Your main responsibility will be technical project leadership. This includes:
· Generating and evaluating design concepts
· Developing prototypes and analyzing test samples collaborating with test engineers to assess performance
· Taking technical ownership for product/component approvals
You’ll also manage and maintain BOM structures in the PDM system (SmarTeam), create 3D models in Catia V5 (as needed), and prepare and review technical drawings — ensuring they meet quality standards through both internal and external review processes.
The role requires a proactive, independent approach to planning and executing project work. You'll collaborate closely with teams in testing, simulation, manufacturing, quality, and with external suppliers and partners. Occasional travel may be required (approx. 2–3 days/year), mainly within Sweden, but also internationally.
As a senior team member, you'll support junior engineers in their project deliveries, take the lead in solving complex challenges, and act as a mentor within a collaborative team environment. You’ll also independently handle smaller projects or initiatives, both from a technical and project management perspective — following them from concept to industrialization.
About you:
You’re a humble, patient, and supportive team player who enjoys solving problems collaboratively and in a structured way. You’re comfortable switching between a big-picture, user-focused mindset and diving into technical details — and you communicate well with people on both sides of that spectrum.
Your approach to decision-making is structured and data-driven. You can clearly articulate your reasoning, while remaining open to others' perspectives.
Creativity is key in this role, and you’re not afraid to think outside the box — or to inspire others to do the same. You’re able to move fluidly from open-ended ideation to concrete, systematic execution.
Your skills and background:
· You hold a degree in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent (B.Sc. or M. Sc.), with a focus on product development, quality, simulations, or materials engineering.
· You have approximately 6 or more years of relevant professional experience, primarily in product development and leading design work. Experience in related areas such as production engineering, quality, testing, simulation, or project management is a plus.
· You have solid experience in creating technical requirement specifications and translating them into design solutions using CAD. You’re also skilled in preparing technical drawings according to ISO standards, with high attention to quality and standardization.
· You’ve worked with dynamically loaded metal components, ideally sheet metal, and possess strong knowledge of material selection, forming processes, and heat treatment of steel.
· Experience with riveting, method development, product cost estimation, and resource planning is an advantage.
· You're comfortable working in an international setting and can communicate fluently in both Swedish and English, written and spoken.
Location
This position will be placed in the Huskvarna office. In this role, you are expected to lead and inspire others, which is why your presence in the office is important. While there is some flexibility, being on-site is key to fostering collaboration, engagement, and effective leadership.
