Main Activities and Responsibilities
As the EHS Manager, you will be instrumental in developing and implementing a comprehensive roadmap for Health & Safety and Environment across Volvo Buses sites globally. Your role will involve supporting and coordinating strategic and operational initiatives that prioritize the well-being of our employees and the environment. Key responsibilities include:
• Developing a Strategic Health and Safety Roadmap: Collaborate with cross-functional teams to create and implement a clear roadmap that outlines our Health & Safety and Environment objectives, initiatives, and performance metrics aligned with our sustainability goals.
• Participating in Volvo Group Forums: Act as a key representative in Volvo Group forums on Environment and Health & Safety, ensuring that our roadmap is integrated with broader corporate sustainability strategies and best practices.
• Compliance Tracking and Reporting: Monitor and report on compliance with legal and Volvo Group directives, ensuring that our Health & Safety and Environment practices meet regulatory standards and contribute to a safer workplace.
• Quarterly and Annual Reporting: Compile and present comprehensive reports on EHS performance, progress against the roadmap, and areas for improvement, highlighting our commitment to a safe and sustainable work environment.
• Leading Networks and Supporting Sites: Facilitate collaboration among sites to share best practices, set targets, and develop action plans that drive continuous improvement in EHS performance.
• Planning and Coordinating Audits: Oversee audits related to Health & Safety and Environment certifications, ensuring that our practices align with our roadmap and contribute to our sustainability objectives.
Qualifications
You will be part of a small group based in the Borås plant reporting to the Manager of People and Culture, but with a lot of cross functional contacts within and outside operations which means you will spend part of your time in Gothenburg. We think you have good social skills, good understanding for diverse cultures and last but not least, you are engaged in what you are doing and want to learn the things you do not manage already.
A preferred candidate for this role would possess a Master’s degree or have comprehensive work experience in a relevant area, with a particular focus on Health and Safety. Fluency in both spoken and written English and Swedish is essential. The ideal candidate would have excellent communication and presentation skills, enabling them to effectively convey Health and Safety concepts and initiatives.
You should have a proven ability to take responsibility and drive initiatives independently while also being a collaborative team player. A structured and process-oriented mindset, coupled with a passion for developing and executing a strategic roadmap for Health and Safety, is highly desirable. Additionally, strong knowledge of ISO 9001, 14001, and 45001 standards is required. Experience in a manufacturing environment, particularly with a focus on Health and Safety practices, would be considered a significant advantage.
