About this opportunity:
The Simulation Services (SIMS) unit is an organization within Engineering Services and Experience (ESE) in Engineering Unit RAN Software & Compute Platforms (RCE). SIMS is responsible for providing Simulators to product development within Business Area Networks. These Simulators are used in product verification instead of real mobile phones and real core networks. The SIMS responsibility includes development of internal solutions for Simulators, including our main simulator CSIM FsUE NR and sourcing of Simulators from external vendors.
We are now looking for engaged Layer 2 developers to join a newly created team based in Linköping, Sweden! The team will work on how to prepare for development of a powerful UE Simulator meeting the needs of 6G. The team will later be the core team for actual development of the 6G UE simulator.
What you will do:
• Be part of an agile team that contributes to Layer 2 development of a UE Simulator
• Work in an exciting technical area, supporting Ericsson internal users with an important product for 6G
• Have the possibility to drive innovation and make new insights reality
• Get the opportunity to work with everything needed in a team: analysis, system design, pre-development and implementation in small increments and ensuring short feedback loops
The skills you bring:
• A spirit of positiveness and creativeness with a can-do-attitude
• The skills to be ready to explore new opportunities as well as continuously learn and improve together with the team and really enjoy coding
• The social skills to cooperate closely in a diverse team of colleagues
• MSc or BSc level in Computer Science, Software Engineering, IT or equivalent level of knowledge
• Good software engineering skills with ability to write qualitative code (e.g. C++, Python and Java) in a complex and performance-sensitive product and knowledge in DPDK
• Proficiency in L2 Protocols such as Medium Access Control (MAC), Logical Link Control (LLC), and Radio Link Control (RLC)
• Knowledge of multithreading and parallel processing to simulate multiple data link connections efficiently
• Excellent speaking and writing skills in English
