The Technical Product Manager reports into the CTO and is part of the wider product management team. With a strong engineering background and will play a critical role in evaluating the technical feasibility of new product ideas and innovations. The Technical Product Manager will collaborate with both technical and commercial teams to ensure that products are both technically sound and aligned with market needs. This role requires a strong technical mindset, as well as a keen commercial acumen, to balance the complexities of product development with the realities of market demands.
The main responsibilities and roles are summarized below but not limited to: Accountabilities Responsibilities and performance measures Evaluate Technical Feasibility: • Assess the technical viability of new product ideas by working closely with engineering, manufacturing, and technical teams.
• Determine whether concepts can be realistically developed and brought to market based on technical limitations, costs, and resources.
Collaboration with Product Managers:
• Work alongside other product managers (focusing on commercial and market needs) to develop well-rounded product briefs and strategies.
• Provide technical insights to ensure that both the technical and business perspectives are integrated into the product development process.
Product Brief Creation
• Develop detailed product briefs that outline the technical requirements, specifications, and features necessary for successful product development.
• Ensure that all technical aspects of the product are documented clearly. Research & Analysis
• Perform in-depth technical, manufacturing, and market research to inform the decisionmaking process.
• Analyse trends, competitor products, and technological advancements to identify opportunities for innovation. Business Case Development: Working closely with the Commercial Product Manager on Business Case development;
• Lead the technical aspects of the business case process.
• Provide technical analysis to support product investments, cost structures, and potential ROI calculations.
Stakeholder Collaboration
• Facilitate communication between cross-functional teams, including engineering, design, manufacturing, and marketing, to ensure alignment on technical and market objectives.
Curate Product Ideas:
• Participate in the curation of an internal register of product ideas and suggestions. Help prioritize ideas based on technical feasibility, market needs, and business strategy.
Technical Leadership:
• Provide technical guidance and mentoring to junior members of the team as needed. Serve as the goto expert for technical queries related to product development and implementation.
Support Product Lifecycle:
• Oversee the technical aspects of product lifecycle management, from ideation and prototype development to launch and post-launch evaluation. Health and Safety
