Shape the Future of API Integration as a GraphQL Solution Architect!

Join our client as a GraphQL Solution Architect within the GraphQL Stable team, where you will be a technical leader responsible for defining the architecture, design principles, best practices, and frameworks for our critical GraphQL digital product – a cornerstone of our API & Integration portfolio. In this influential role, you will work closely with the Digital Product Owner (DPO) and fellow architects and engineers to drive the product strategy, vision, and roadmap.

Your deep integration expertise will be crucial as you play a key role in enabling and expanding our GraphQL platform across the enterprise. Hands-on experience in building Subgraphs and Federated Supergraphs from the ground up is essential for this position.

As a GraphQL Architect, you will establish the reference architecture, governance model for Federated Schemas/Supergraphs, and implementation best practices. You will also be instrumental in creating frameworks and guidelines for development teams. Acting as a technical ambassador, you will champion GraphQL adoption throughout the organization, empowering Volvo Group’s Tech Domain experts, Business Analysts, and Global Functions to effectively leverage GraphQL for building scalable and robust API-based solutions.

Key Responsibilities:

• GraphQL Architecture Leadership: Define and drive the GraphQL architecture, establishing the reference architecture, best practices, and architectural guidelines.
• Schema Governance & Versioning: Establish GraphQL schema best practices, enforce Supergraph governance, and develop an effective versioning strategy.
• Architectural Guidance: Lead architectural discussions, guiding engineers and architects in designing scalable and efficient GraphQL-based integration solutions.
• GraphQL Advocacy: Act as a GraphQL ambassador, enabling business units to effectively leverage GraphQL by providing guidance and fostering adoption.
• Segment Architect Collaboration: Gather requirements, align with broader architectural directions, and communicate these effectively to the development team.
• Technical Roadmap Support: Assist the Digital Product Owner (DPO) in defining the technical roadmap and delivery plans, balancing short-term needs with long-term vision.
• Requirement Translation: Translate high-level requirements into clear and actionable work items, defining purpose, scope, and expected outcomes.
• Enterprise Architecture Alignment: Ensure adherence to the overarching North Star architecture and compliance with relevant security directives and policies.

Technical Skills:

• Strong Integration Expertise: Proven experience in integration implementation and architecture.
• Hands-on GraphQL Development: Extensive hands-on experience in implementing Subgraphs and Federated Supergraphs from scratch using any GraphQL platform, with deep expertise in Schema Design, Queries, Mutations, and Subscriptions.
• Schema Governance & Versioning Mastery: Sound knowledge of Schema governance principles and GraphQL versioning strategies.
• API-Led Architecture Proficiency: Proficiency in API-led architecture and experience with API Management tools.
• Integration Architecture Expertise: Expertise in designing and implementing robust integration architectures.
• Observability Tool Familiarity: Familiarity with Observability tools such as OpenTelemetry and Splunk.
• Agile Experience: Proven experience working in Agile environments, with a strong understanding of Agile methodologies.
• Central Integration Team Experience: Prior experience as part of a central integration team, enabling integration products and service
