This position plays a critical role within the Engineering Development group, which is responsible for the design and advancement of Ocean Bottom Seismic (OBS) acquisition solutions. This position provides strategic and technical leadership for the full lifecycle of Ocean Bottom Node system development, from concept through to industrialization and deployment. The role oversees the architecture of complex system and drives innovation across projects.
Main Responsibilities:
· Build and lead an engineering team comprising internal and external resources that supports multiple acquisition system projects. Lead these contributors as a team (schedules, coordination, and task monitoring).
· Drive the architecture and evolution of complex acquisition systems, including defining solution trade-offs across technical domains (electrical, mechanical, embedded software, and systems integration). Ensure system-level cohesion across design, validation, and operational goals.
· Oversee the execution of engineering programs and projects, including those involving cutting-edge technologies. Initiate and lead innovation efforts aimed at maintaining competitive advantage and enabling improvements in system performance and cost.
· Define and enforce system development practices, including risk analysis, validation strategies, design reviews, and documentation standards. Establish engineering governance processes that ensure compliance and technical rigor.
· Maintain a deep understanding of industry trends, emerging technologies, and competitor capabilities. Lead efforts to incorporate new technologies and champion technical excellence across the organization.
· Testing of new equipment, including design of test equipment and execution and analysis of field trials.
· Manages documentation of assigned part of the project.
· Act as project manager for recording systems when system design represents a significant dimension of the project.
· Enforce the relevant practices of project management.

Required Competencies:
· Bachelor’s degree in engineering.
· 7+ years of experience in electrical design and testing.
· Broad spectrum of skills in Electrical engineering, covering low noise / low energy digital to analog conversion, battery and battery management systems, high performance clock and synchronization protocols, high-speed data transfer and underwater acoustics.
· Good knowledge of system architectures, mechanical engineering, and mechatronics.
· Good practices in project management.
· Proven experience in underwater, or equivalent, harsh conditions system design and manufacturing.
· Working knowledge of core geophysical principles.
· Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite.
· Proficiency in CAD design software (AutoCAD, SolidWorks etc.).
· Proficient in English verbal and written communication skills.
· Proven leadership capabilities.
· Ability to work as a team-player with a spirit of initiative and achievement orientation.
