Each year, we host over 2000 visits by scientists, who come to carry out world-class research in a wide variety of scientific fields. The Biology, Deuteration, Chemistry and Soft Matter (BDCS) group operates the Chemistry and Soft Matter support laboratories, which offer equipment for sample preparation and characterisation of solutions and interfaces, serving both external users and in-house scientists. The BDCS staff also run the Lipid and Deuteration laboratories, which are equipped with state-of-the-art instrumentation for the synthesis and characterisation of tailor-made deuterated compounds. Your tasks: Working within the BDCS group, your role will be to set up various experimental devices and contribute to the management, maintenance and purchase of experimental equipment. You will be responsible for ensuring the proper functioning and calibration of the various laboratory equipment, as well as performing series of physical measurements in accordance with established protocols. Further tasks include drafting operating procedures of experimental devices, handling first-level maintenance and servicing, overseeing the detection and diagnosis of simple breakdowns, and maintaining relations with suppliers.
