The British International School of Stockholm (BISS) is seeking a passionate Lärare i Svenska/Svenska som andraspråk (SVA) to join our dedicated team. The role primarily involves teaching our primary school students (grundskolenivå) but also includes teaching younger students of preschool age (förskoleålder).

You will join a dedicated Swedish-speaking team that teaches students from ages 3 to 18 across two campuses. The role focuses on working with younger students (ages 3–11), based at our Altorp campus.

At BISS, English is the primary language of instruction outside of Swedish lessons, and a professional level of English is required. Experience working or studying abroad is an added advantage.

Qualifications:

We are looking for candidates who:

• Du är legitimerad lärare med behörighet i svenska och svenska som andraspråk för åk F-6.
• Hold a university degree.
• Have current experience teaching åk F-3 within the Swedish school system.
• Are experienced in differentiated instruction.
• Can organise and manage your work efficiently.
• Motivate and engage students.
• Communicate effectively with colleagues and resolve conflicts constructively.
• Value collegial learning as key to developing new knowledge.
• Take responsibility for professional growth, consistently focused on achieving goals and outcomes.

• Plan, develop, and assess high-quality lessons.
• Collaborate to enhance and develop our Swedish programmes.
• Hold students accountable to maintain an effective learning environment.
• Stay up to date with the latest educational research.

Contract:

• Permanent full-time (with a six-month probationary period).
• Start date: Immediate start (or as soon as the right candidate is available).
• Closing date: 12th September 2025. Interviews will be conducted on a rolling basis, so early applications are encouraged.
